Dear Mr. Jeffrey M. Johnson:
Subject:
The use of misleading headlines AGAIN appears to protect Cardinal Roger M. Mahony.
Letter from the Past
On July 11, 2005 I wrote a letter to LA Times, Jamie Gold, Readers Representative: readers.rep@latimes.com , & C-Span events@c-span.org about protecting Cardinal Roger M. Mahony and putting children at a greater risk of being raped.
http://misleading-america.blogspot.com/2005/06/god-curse-cardinal-mahony-and-others.html
NOW I Write Again
On August 31, 2005, Page B-6, the two headlines on the one article read:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/state/la-me-church31aug31,1,7733431.story?coll=la-news-state
First headline:
“Abuse Testimony to Be Made Public”
Secondary headline:
“Judge denies a request by Los Angeles Cardinal Mahony to seal depositions by priests and other witnesses in molestation claims”
The headlines should read: “Judge Denies the Public”
After reading the two LA Times headlines, the average person might think that now the public will know who are the rapists priests and where they are. Then the public could put pressure on the cowardly law enforcement agencies and politicians to prosecute the rapists. This enforcement of the law is denied because the Judge denies the public of such information.
Proof Judge denies the public
The second paragraph from the end says that Los Angeles County superior Court Judge Haley J. Fromholz citing privacy concerns, ordered lawyers to remove the names of victims, church employees and witnesses who are not parties to the law suits before releasing the depositions, which were taken at law offices, rest homes and other locations.
Sickening
A witness sees a victim raped by a church employee but the police can’t help the victim because the police can’t have the name of the victim, witnesses or rapists. With all possible disrespect, I want to tell you Mr. Jeffrey M. Johnson, that you too are as sickening as those who perform the rapist’s acts against the children. Allowing your editors to twist the facts, thus making other children assessable to rape, makes you an abomination.
Hypocritical 2-year Extension
The others also as sickening are U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein who knowingly made new laws for extending the investigation and prosecution of rapist’s priests only a two year extension.
Now that I see this Cardinal Roger Mahony crap going on for almost 10 years it makes me pray the Nation of Islam should rule this country and the Catholic Church with its hypocritical Pope.
Sincerely,
Carl G. Mueller, Nam 68

A bigger hypocritical act minimized by the Media: Helping the children of Africa.
My August 8, 2005 letter uses facts and numbers to prove weak concerns to protect MILLIONS of Africans.
August 8, 2005
To Whom It Should Concern:
Subject:
Children Starve & Children Raped but Money Goes for Image Protection and Oil War
From LA Times 7/31/05
Almost a third of the population of Niger’s 11.3 million are at risk of starvation. In the World Food Program’s warehouse in Maradi, about 2,200 tons of sorghum, 45 tons of vegetable oil and 76 tons of beans are ready to be dispatched by various aid agencies.
That gives 1 person, at risk of starvation, about 1 pound of food 1 time.
The Catholic Church in the USA has spent between 2 & 3 Billion dollars protecting molesters and the churches’ image. These Billions of dollars could be used to help children in Niger Africa. Meanwhile, the church’s lawyers are still continuing to fight legislative reform and aggressively keep secrets hidden.
California judges and lawmaker continue to be more protective of molesting priests and Cardinal Roger Mahony than the children who are molested and or raped.
For example, the Los Angeles Archdiocese still faces 544 sexual abuse claims, and Mahony’s lawyers now have turned the documents over to a judge with the orders not to release the information, because it would violate confidentiality between Mahony and priests.
This lack of information given to us Catholics, who do not cherish the bliss of ignorance, leaves us pained and angered by hypocritical politicians, news media and religious leaders worldwide.
Example:
Tens of thousands of malnourished children in Niger today face death from starvation. In March, an appeal to the world for $16 million in food aid for Niger resulted in $1 million in contributions. America is currently spending, conservatively, $4-Billion a month in Iraq. That comes to about $133 million a day, or about $5.5 million per hour. Therefore, devoting roughly two hours of Iraqi-war spending could have possibly avoided the impending starvation epidemic in Niger. I guess preventing starvation in Africa doesn’t get you too many votes from America’s heartland.
Sincerely,
Carl G. Mueller, Nam 68
Note:
I have NOT read anything about the Nation of Islam marching the streets of LA requesting food money for the starving children of Africa. But boy do they screech when the Nation Of Islam Minister Tony Muhammad, has to eat a little of LA’s finest shoe leather.
